Welcome - Editorial
Welcome to the summer edition of "Footsteps", the bulletin of the Montfortian family in Britain and Ireland. We use the term Family because we are an extended group of priests, brothers and. sisters living the spirituality of Saint Louis Marie de Montfort. The family is made up of the Montfort Missionaries (Company of Mary), the Daughters of Wisdom, founded by Montfort and Mother Marle Louise, and also the Brothers of St, Gabriel. The latter, while being very few in number in these Isles, are nonetheless an important ingredient internationally to the make up of our nature as a family. In fact, in future editions we hope to tell you more about the Brothers of St. Gabriel.
You will notice that the main theme of this edition is Reconciliation, an important focus for our reflections on the great jubilee year 2000. Among the thoughts about Reconciliation, we are delighted to share with you a very moving account of people's own experience from Belfast, from St. Mary's parish where the Daughters of Wisdom are working. Also some thoughts from Montfort and Marie Loulse about their experience of reconciliation and the effect this had on the people they reached out to. As well as our book review, and news from here and there, you will find a touching extract from the homily preached at the Golden Jubilee Mass of Brother Louis Mane, in Barrhead, Scotland.
Sr. Shirley concludes her brief account of the life of Marie Loulse, the first Daughter of Wisdom. In the autumn Sr. Anne will share some reflections on certain aspects of Marie Louise's life.
Don't forget to consider our Montfortian pilgrimage, when you are thinking about planning your next years holiday. This promises to be a wonderful experience of walking in the Footsteps of St. Louis Marie and Blessed Marie Louise, as well as enjoying the spectacular interest and beauty of Brittany, France.
